Choose your own load cell from the material

1. Aluminum is generally used for low-capacity single-point load cells and is not suitable for wet or harsh environments. Compared to other materials, it is best suited for these small scale applications because it responds the most to pressure. The most popular aluminum is alloy 2023 because of its low creep and lag.

 

2. Stainless steel is a more expensive option, but it performs best in harsh conditions. It can withstand corrosive chemicals and excessive moisture.Some pH levels can even erode stainless steel.But stainless Steel alloy 17-4 PH has the best overall properties of any stainless steel alloy. 

 

3. Alloy steel is a good load cell material, because of its hardness, especially suitable for large loads. Its cost performance is better than other load cell materials. Alloy steels are suitable for single and multiple load cell applications and limit creep and hysteresis.

 

For example: chemical processing facilities find stainless steel load cells more practical; Aluminum is more durable than stainless steel and more responsive to pressure; Aluminum is cheaper than alloy steel; Stainless steel load cells can withstand heavier weights than aluminum or alloy steel load cells; Tool steel is best for drying conditions; Alloy steel is more durable than aluminum and can withstand a higher load bearing capacity; Stainless steel load cells are more expensive than tool steel or aluminum.
